Price of Copper for Fewer halfpence

1787 Governor & Co of the Copper miners in England usd to Contract with Government for 200 Tons at a time to be supplied as the business of the Mint migh[t] require.  Last Contract was made in 1774 with the mint for 100 Tons on demand in Proper Fillets for Coinage of halfpence & Farthings at 13 pence the Pound avoirdupoise they taking back the scissel & Refuse at the Same Price only half of this Contract has been demanded.

1786  Halliday & Co offer for 1s/0 3/2 a Pound & their offer is approvd by the officers of the mint.


Produce of a Ton of Copper in Boultons Pence

a Ton of Copper will Produce of Pence Each on ounce weight 35,840 = 2986 Shillings or £149.6.8.  Since the year 1729 the mint never threw 51 Tons of Copper into Circulation in one year & often not more than 8 or 10.  Generally since 1775 none seems to have been Coind.
