Different languages spoken in Seven of the upper Districts
There are five interior Districts, the names of which are the negative adverbs in their respective dialects as Comil or caumil of Comileroy or Caumileroy (no) Naller or nalleri (na) The others I am afraid to mention have want of memory; but the fact was demonstrated to me in 1839 by Question and answer between Mr Somerville Mr Coxen & the tribes
on the Death of a parent, his children are adopted by the Uncle, and are partaken in his food and pursuits - Cousin & brother are often synonymous terms - There is no expression more binding than "Geeroo caumil gui yalwalla" whereas signifies I am not telling a lie, it is true, Should they use those words falsely a fight generally results - A gin is beat for it God is only known from white people "Youroo" what shall we say of, "at inter homines gens nulla est tarn fera qur noss sciat {Deum essu ex operibus ezies" [Transcriber Note: My Latin is worse than my transcription.}
