We loaded up with wounded & sick prisoners the next morning & came back here.
I was sorry for the poor devils, some were in a frightful state & an 18 mile ride in a springless G.S. waggon over a bad road is pure murder to a sick man. We buried five altogether on the road, I suppose which was pretty good all things considered. I thought more would die myself, about 1% as we must have taken nearly 500 back.
