Bombing Test

Men were put through their live bomb throwing test just when they reached their 9th week of training, up hill then they are given plenty of practise in throwing dummy bombs.   A special bombing ground is used, this consists of a series of bays built of sandbags & earthworks each about 10 ft x 6 ft in which the thrower srtands.   The marks of targets are out in front of the boys at about 35 to 40 yds distance.   Behind in a specially built observation post the bombing officer is stationed.   In each   bay 10 or 12 men take up their position & the bombs are brorught in.   In rotation each man takes a bomb & at the order PIN OUT pulls out the pin & stands
