Islands lately seen by the French.
Good harbors, plenty of water, no shrubs or trees little vegetation.  Staid 5 days.- on the Coast left it.

Feb. 13   Came to Queen Charlottes Sound    
        25 left it & pushd for Otaheite but met an easterly wind which lasted till the season was so far spent that want of Provision for Cattle water &c. made it necessary to bear away for the Friendly Isles.    
Augt. Arrived at Otaheite found that the Spaniards from [Callao?] had been twice there since we had, left 4 men & taken them off again likewise likewise goats, Hogs, dogs & a Ram & Bull but no females.    
  Left at Otaheite a Bull & 3 Cows a Ram & 5 Ewes & Poultry of 4 sorts & a Horse & mare with Omai.
Left at the Friendly Isles a Bull & Cow, a Horse & Mare & some sheep.
Left Omai at Huaheine.
   
Decr. 9 Left Soc. [Society] Isles proceeded N.
Discoverd a Group of Islands inhabited by the same Nation as Otaheite & abounding with Hogs & roots.
