KANGAROO
This extraordinary Animal is not [indecipherable] a native of New Holland, but is found on several of the Islands in the Southern Ocean on one of which it was first seen by Captain Cook. Its form, habits and appearance & sagacity are equally [indecipherable] of [indecipherable], There are several species, or more properly speaking several sizes of this Animal, which it is probable will be of some use to enumerate. First there are two kinds of Forest Kangaroo, [indecipherable] large and small, the larger ones when seated on their hind legs, stand near six feet high, and weigh generally from one Hundred to one Hundred and fifty Weight, the smaller kind are [indecipherable] above half that size, but are much [indecipherable] often and more difficult to catch. The Brush Kind are of those sizes the smallest of which has obtained the name of the Kangaroo Rat.
The whole of the Females [indecipherable] ...belly or outer skin in which they carry their young.
These animals when hunted, and first they cannot offer their [indecipherable] from their pastures by speed, fight most viciously, striking with their hind legs, inflicting therewith [indecipherable] Hounds and often killing the Dogs. The flesh of this animal when properly [indecipherable] is a dish for an Epicure, in flavour resembles the Hare but is infinitely more Delicious.
