My Dear Mother

Well, much has been happening here, but, best of all, we are out for a spell. I can tell you, now that we can look back on the real winter, we have been through some hardships. It's still very cold, for March winds here are straight from the North Sea, and rain has taken the place of snow. The last fall, about a week ago, only lay on the ground for a few hours.
