from any place, & the young plants preserved with the same care as the growing ones: in this manner a great number of Tea Trees were brought over in 1771, when those which had been planted in their Boxes in China, every one died.
It might be useful also upon a very particular occasion, to procure a large quantity of the seed in question; & putting up a number of Small wax cakes with it; to break one & sow the Contents of it every fortnight or three weeks during
the Voyage: by this means, tho the first sown plants should be destroyed, & the Seeds themselves have
lost their vegetable qualities before their arrival: yet some of the intermediate sowings may be preserved.
