As the heat of all the Countries within the Tropicks is nearly the same, it is more than probable that the greatest part, if not all, of the Plants, Trees, Shrubbs, fruits, & flowers; which nature has produced in the inter tropical parts of the East Indies, will equaly flourish upon the Island of Antigua if brought there: the spices even, could they be procured, would in my opinion thrive there as well as in their native Islands; & this the Dutch themselves seem to
believe, from the care they are known to take in order to prevent Foreigners from procuring by any means either
Seeds, or young plants of them.
Great difficulty attends the bringing over vegetables, from places at a large distance: with Care however it may succeed, either in Seeds, or actualy growing plants.
