13th Novr. 1805

Dear Sir

I had the Pleasure of receiving your Letters of the 10th Augt 1802 and 27th Augt 1804, from which it does not appear you were then acquainted with my removal to this situation, but I hope long ere this you have received my letter of Last Jany a copy of which I inclose.

From the friendly correspondence now existing between the governor and myself you will see I had anticipated your kind advice for which I beg you will accept my most grateful acknowledgement for that and every other mark of your friendship, and I have to assure you, that my conduct shall be such, as far as my abilities are capable, to merit your approbation, and in the important trust I now hold that of Government also. I am happy
