must hereafter be done, that the Merchant may import Copper coin for his own convenience. 

     Government's farming is necessary to supply in part the wants of the Convicts, and keep them in some degree independant of the Settlers;  if this was not done they would be too much in their power, and obliged to pay at times exorbitantly for grain, or in times of scarcity be reduced to Want.  At present we have 150 Acres of warrant Land in Wheat - 223 Acres of Maize and 10 Acres in Calivances.  To carry on this concern we have about 102 effective men, and next Year we must change our Farm from Castle Hill to Tongabbee [also spelt Toongabbie].  But a material consideration is, we have such a number of Convicts who are infirm and a burthen to us, that an expense not far short of one half is attached to the Public by such persons being sent out to the Colony, instead of laborious Men & Mechanics which we are much in want of & particularly, Carpenters.
