Sydney Cove July 2nd 1788

Dear Sir

The few Seeds I have been able to get collected are sent under the care of Lt. Shortland in the Alexander. A Botanist would be a valuable requisition, if such a person could be sent out, or even a good inteligent Gardner.

I have taken the liberty of saying that, if Lord Sydney or Mr Nepean want a few seeds, you will supply them.

In the Skin of the Kangurroo, which with some dry'd plants, a few in a Case bottle of Spirits & some Gums, Lt Shortland is likewise charged with, you will observe that the feet differ from the one described in your Voyage, the Penis, appears to me to be placed in a very extraordinary manner, between the Testicles & the Anus.  There are a variety of small Animals, several of which leap
