ran within a mile of the Germans, & in front of our own guns. They stayed in Hazebrouck at a foundry, & were shelled out. Nevertheless they got plenty of food which was found in the deserted houses. It was in Hazebrouck that Billy Roscoe was wounded.
Then they came to St Sylvester Cappel where I found them on Sunday afternoon.
