the imagination conjures up of the orphans & nuns at the convent, & the civilians of Locre & Dranoutre, under shell fire, & in the confusion of evacuation is not pleasant.
Then there is Caestre, which now comes very close to the line: that will be shelled no 1. It is to be hoped that all the civilians were able to get away in time but one fears it was too sudden. I am wondering what has become of Mdme Van Uxems
