with nothing to be seen save an occasional squalid native village. At Esdud the Jewish villages begin & there is a marked improvement in the scenery while the country becomes more hilly & broken finally when nearing Jaffa there are quite little paradises created, seemingly to the jaded eye.
Always to the right are to be seen the Judaean Hills, the backbone of Palestine towering up, blue & velvety in the distance
