dotted here & there with little villages of white cottages with red roofs nestling against a spur in the midst of a cluster of orchards & vineyards. The orange orchards are a mass of golden fruit & every lane or road is hedged with wattle or prickly pear on either side. The farther north you go the prettier & more thickly populated the country becomes.

At Tel esh Sharia where the "fertile plains of Philistia" start the country is rolling flat & monotonous.
