Fritz 200 yds along, we only holding a portion of his circular line. Having no advice from our own side of movement we opened fire on them machine guns & rifles & bombed the extention of sap. They gradually dropped back as daylight came & we could hear both English & foreign spoken along here but dared not take part incase of perhaps a ruse of his. later all quietened and finally word was rec'd that it was the 20th. attacking & that we had so infiladed with our fire.
