fatigue Went swimming down at the Suez Canal which lies about 1 ½ from Sarapeum our present camp BBB menu for today is not much hope for change tomorrow
Monday 28
the change has taken place have started training ect all ammo carried. The camp is about 1 half miles from [indecipherable] it is Barren and sandy small dry scrub near the dessert, no Recreation up to date is Sarepeum our stay here will not be to interesting swimming parades are very [indecipherable] you can swim from Africa to Asia there are camps all along the canal and first lines of defence is some miles over the [indecipherable] on back roads.
Tuesday 29
have commenced army Rations drill is the order of the day. they are taking us very steady on account of the heavy sandy going for the horses. our amunition recalled
month end up to date have [indecipherable] no tidings of money or any letters from home
MARCH - Wednesday 1
the 7th Reg are duty Reg today fatigue. the camp nearly settle now things are in working order Swimming parade to the canal
