was where the southern Gibralter. was The first sight of habitation was a house or two near a signal station; then a reservoir on the crest of some seemingly inaccessible hill; a wireless station perched on the top of some beetling cliff. Rounding the western point of the cliffs we beheld portion of Aden itself. A few strange looking houses with red roofs beside a broad harbour sheltering several steamers & dhows. Far away to the north was the low long coast with its trees & verdure in utter contrast to the volcanic outcrop we had just passed.
All the afternoon we ran westward along the coast strait, with the Asiatic coast visible to starboard. It is a barren inhospitable coast
