He had gone thro' Gallipoli as Staff Sergt. in A.S.C. and joined the Infantry as a Lieut. (13th Batt.) only a month before his death. In cricket baseball & other sporting bodies he was always interested and was Secry. of Centennial Park Cricket & Baseball Association for many years.

Monday 13th
A very busy day. The whole Third Div. practised marching out. We had our wagons all packed yesterday so at 11.30 we fell in (full kit) and moved off. Then a long march commenced. To Amesbury we came thro up past Stonehenge and on to Winterbourne Stoke, Shrewton and back to thro' Rollestone to Camp arriving at 7 6.15 p.m.
