they supply the whole Division. A light railway runs out to the battalions and to Railhead. From the Railhead, supplies are conveyed by camels to the lads in the trenches where an attack is soon expected by the Turks. They are on a water ration out there so things must be pretty rotten out there. We have plenty here because we have our own water-cart.

The Canal is a wonderful peice of work. The sand is banked up on this side & to see a mail steamer going through one would think it was cutting through the desert. On the other side there is a belt of trees & over there the Hd Qrs of the Division are quartered.

There are no bathing costumes
