interesting talk with her. The boy works hard about the place & the back garden is a picture. He has all kinds of vegetables growing & a few fruit trees. From the back door you can see beautiful cultivated flats it reminds me of the Rouchell. We sat in the kitchen last night & yarned with our "landlady" she speaks English fairly well.
We are not very far from the firing line guns can be heard distinctly. Last night we saw them shelling an aeroplane the schrapnel was bursting all round it. Our companies are split up all over the countryside. I haven't seen Eric or Horace since leaving Abbeville. The Sgt & I cycled from there to this place a distance of about 80 miles
