must have fired over a hundred shells. They were spitting all round him first a flash & then a cloud of smoke but he sailed away seemingly unscathed. It was a beautiful night although a little cloudy. We went for a spin through the crops outside the village it was great.
2/7/16.
Took the bikes out for exercise last night & thoroughly enjoyed the ride along the country roads through the beautiful crops. Soon after we arrived back a heavy bombardment commenced not far from here. It shook the windows & doors & kept going until about 4 o'c this morning. It was believed to be in the vicinity of La Bassee. An occasional flash could be seen from the back door.
