And whereas the Said Major Johnston prevented me from having any communication with his Majesty's Ship Porpoise, on her return on the 4th February, and continued to act in Such manner up to this day (except through his hands allowing me to convey an acting Commission to you) when Lieutenant Colonel Foveaux being arrived has granted you permission to communicate with me: you are therefore hereby required and directed to hoist and wear my broad pendant, on board his Majesty's Ship Porpoise, entering me on the Ship's Books, as commodore, and you are to enter Mr. Edmund Griffin as my Secretary, on a separate Supernumerary list.
