In place of any Letter being written in answer to my above Letter, Thomas Thornby one of my body Guards who carried it returned and said.

Major Johnston's Compliments to Mr. Griffin that he was very sorry he could not write an answer to him, to the Note he had received that he was dangerously ill, and it would endanger his life to come into Camp.  His right Arm was tied up, and he said he had been bled.

Thus ended this days Proceedings. All the papers of the following day the 26th January were seized by the Rebels.
