The Prisoner John McArthur Esquire, now before the Court claims their protection he having received information from divers friendly Persons, that a large body of Men are arrived with Orders to carry into execution a warrant from the Judge Advocate against him for exercising his lawful right of Challenge against the said Judge Advocate, and assigning his reasons for it as he was directed to do by the Court.

The Deponent further swears that from the information he has received he considers his life in danger, from the unprincipled and atrocious Characters that are combined against him under the direction of the infamous George Crossley: he therefore declines giving any Bail, and intreats the Court will be pleased to put him under the protection of a Military Guard, they being the only Persons in whose hands he could consider himself secure.
