very rough. It was impossible to ride in places. Passed many small villages en route and saw some very fine panoramic views. Included among these were Rambi with its spire. The coast in the distance. There were also some fine positions commanding the roads which had been held by the Turks. One seeing this country would think these positions impregnable. We passed the house where John the Baptist was born and entered Jerusalem about 4 pm. Passing through Jerusalem we camped on Mt of Olives some three miles from Town.
We were tired out & had just pitched our Bivvys when we were ordered to move to
