Had a look round Gaza today. The town which we had to make three costly attempts before it fell. It is nothing but a mass of ruins the result of the constant shelling by monitors off the coast & our heavy artillery. The Minaret which the Artillery spared on account of it being a place of worship by the Mohammedans was found to have been used for observation purposes.
