waves washed up pretty high over the bows, and did a fair bit of damage. We all enjoyed watching the waves coming and sweeping over her, and my chum and I got several wettings through going too far forward.

Wednesday 20th
Company on guard today. I was put on picquet, across the front of the saloon deck and was under the spray the whole time, and though the water was, as usual, wet, and cold too, I enjoyed it thoroughly. As it was a head sea the speed
