board about 6 o'clock with every man present. The boat began to move out at 8 o'clock, and though our friends were allowed on the wharf we had no chance of speaking to them. Most of us then thought of things we had forgotten to tell them but too late.

We stayed in the stream till about 10.15 am when we took up anchor and made for the Heads. While waiting I had a good look round the ship and it looks as though we are going to have a fairly comfortable time. She is a B. I. 6 mno's boat, the "Mashobra" of about 8000 tons.

We are allowed plenty of deck
