elated with a sense of our importance, though a bit disappointed when after nearly straining our eyes till they bulged, we saw no sign of submarines. However we'll be on again, and in the most dangerous part too, opposite Gibraltar & the Mediterranean, and again in the Channel.

A French cruiser "galloped " up during the day and had a good look at us and our gun.
