we started at the top and went too quickly, crashing right through the hedge and landing in a ploughed field, about 5 yards beyond the hedge. That ended our day as we had to come back to camp and wash our overcoats.

After us six chaps got onto the one piece of tin, but it went too quickly, and left them coming down in the snow on their own. They were going so quickly, though, that they got into the hedge before the tin.
