this diary is opened on the first of Jan 1916 as the life at Ma'adi  very rarely varies - composing of drill and attention to horses   I have marked each such day with a tick in the corner and the space shall be used for articles and any other day which is out of the common.

the life at this camp at present has changed for the good everything seem to go on smoothly plenty of swimming which is the main factor our horses enjoy their dip very much my horse swam the canal he was the 1st horse in the squad  to do so. the canal at present has a very busy appearance a pontoon bridge extends across patent  Boats patrol the canal and little  lakes night and day

this  Sarapeum is the place of the golden calf
