fall of snow, some 6 inches falling in a few hours.

There was a fancy dress ball to night in the recreation room. A number of soldiers were dressed as girls & nurses and looked charming. The patients were not at it but but the "ladies" came in to see us.

Wednesday Dec. 26. 1917. 1241
Boxing Day.

The usual routine order prevails in the ward today. Some of the patients are sick, others are malingering as it is time for them to go out.

I am to go to the tent this evening, and from there to my unit.

This evening J. Watson came into this hospital with scabies. He and Dick Sheenan paraded to the Doctor this morning. Sheenan was sent to another hospital suffering from zema. I had a feed of eggs & chips to night.

Thursday Dec. 27. 1917. 1242.

The Doctor came round this morning. I am to return to my unit to day, probably some time this evening. The Transport removed before Christmas from Neuve Eglise to Jesus Farm. During the past few nights our artillery straffed the enemy and on Chrstmas Eve British planes bombed Mannheim, a large German town on the Rhine, with effective results, that were observable.
