        The robes of our King are the only articles of Dress of which we have a Correct account in very Early times  This is gatherd from their great Seals a Series of which is Engraven in Speeds Chronicle & another more modern & better executed in Sandfords Genealogical History
         a variety of observations will present themselves to persons who examine them according to the different Pursuits which are the motives of their search 1461   The Crowns of our ancient monarchs are mere Coronets  Edwd 4th wears  an Imperial Crown & he is the first who wears that [Capuchin?] of Ermine  Reaching almost to the Shoulders which is the princepal decoration of the  Royal Robes now in use   The Crown of Richd 3d has [veles?] like an 1443 1443   Regal crown  The crown  of Hen 7 is more like an Imperial than a Royal   1485   Crown  his Capuchin of ermine is double  The Crown & Robes of Hen 8     1509   are precisely those of the Present time
1350   the Fashionable Dress of the 14 th Century consisted of Long Pointed  shoes fastened to the knees by chains of Gold or Silver  hose of one   color on the one Leg & of another Color on the other   Short breeches  which did not Reach the mid thigh & disclosd the shape of all the Parts  ncluded in them  a Coat one half black or blue the other half white a Long   beard a Silk hood buttond under the chin embroiderd with Grotesque  figures of animals dancing men &c & sometimes ornamented with Gold  Silver & Precious Stones  Camden Remains p 194

in Camden Remains we Read of the Caricature of the English nation Portrayd in the Figure of an Englishman naked having cloth on his arm & shears in his hand but uncertain how to cut his garment.

           in Whitlockes memorial First Edition 1682 The masques 
1633    of Grays inn are describd as having habits doublets Trunk hose & long in  speaking of the gentlemen on horseback "Each had a Page & two  Lacquies waiting on him in his Livery by his horses side  The Lacquies  carrying & the Page his masters cloak
