the live Plants I have had time to collect the Lady Nelson which this goes by cannot take them. The arrival of the Sydney from Calcutta with 622 Cows in March last has so occupied my time from their landing until lately, and so engaged my attention that I have hardly had a moment for any other object - the season of their coming to this climate was much against them our Winter was fast approaching and the keen atmosphere of this cold country soon affected them after a long voyage and close confinement. With my utmost exertion and that of almost every person in the Settlement we could not during the severity of the weather prevent a great many from dying, and we have now only remaining 250 but those are in perfect health and half of them in Calf. My fatigue and anxiety respecting them has been excessive and their present promising appearance affords me with satisfaction, the situation I am now about sending them to will I am certain insure success as there can be no ground in the world superior either for Pasture or Cultivation
