Monday 7 Dec

Fine bright morning - Transports disembarking & moving out - The Colonel, Adjutant & O.R. Sgt went ashore about 10 a.m. with Capt Davies & a native chandler named Moses & his clerk in Moses' boat - On receipt of orders about 12 our ship was towed into the wharf & and unshipping of waggons, horses & stores was commenced. At 5.30 our Coy was detailed to find a Guard & Town picket; this consumed most of our men. I was placed in charge of the Guard & Gordon & Kelly took a picket up town.
