inspection of the ship. The Colonel stated that there would be no parades & that Officers might put on pyjamas for ceremony.

Friday 13/11/14

Crossed the "line" at 7.30 A.M. this morning. Raining heavily all day. The N.Z. convoy & a few of the Austn. convoy including the "Anglo-Egyptian" went on ahead to Colombo early this morning to coal & water.

A small bird landed on the ship and was in such an exhausted state, that it was easily caught. Nearest land (Ceylon) 400 miles away. Crossing the line was celebrated at 2 P.M. All Officers whether they had Xed before or not (except Col & Lieut Heugh were initiated.
