News reached here today to the affect that a battle took place in the North Sea, the English losing 14 ships including the Q. Mary together with 13 others.   The German losses were 15 ships including 3 battle cruises.   No further particulars to hand.

Tuesday 6 Hill 70
Rumours reach here today that Lord  Kitchener was drowned it has since been comfirmed here his destination was Russhia [Russia]  the destroyer was the Hampshire. G. Robertson has taken command.

Wednesday 7 Hill 70
pay day. Leave granted
