a pleasant evening of it. The nights are very sharp now, all available clothes go on the bed before turning in. We are to be issued with an extra blanket to-day I believe très bon.
The Colonel returns to-day from leave in London. Have had Major Charlton Commanding in his absence.
25-9/16 Monday.
Went to Church last night first time for a long while. The speaker was great could have listened all night. Had some old hymns which took me back home.
The weather has been beautiful lately the days are quite warm.

Reported to-day that Thiepval has been taken. The Colonel brought the news from D.H.Q.
