No. 9 Stomacher
This was probably a peice of cloth Placd upon the Stomach under the Doublets, such a thing seems to have been usd in more modern times, in Congreves Cowley Double Dealer 1710 act 3 Sc 5 one of the characters says the first favor she Granted him was a peice of an old scarlet Peticoat for a stomacher. Goldman in his Dictionary translates stomacher Pectorale mamillare
1554 This peice of Dress probably was the origin of the waistcoat, Speed tells us of Sr Thos Wyatt that he put off his gown his Doublet & his waistcoat
1648 Whitlock tells us that the Earl of Holland at his [Acc?] Pulld off his Doublet having on hima white satin waistcoat
