jabbering. At last they came alongside but near the stern, the old chap made a swipe at our side with a boat hook and dropped it. They threw up a rope a couple of times but no one could catch it. At last just as they were getting under the counter some managed to get it. They then pulled themselves along the side on the rope that is along our side. They came under the stream of water from our condensers & they thought they would get swamped, when the water started pouring onto them. At last they got up to the right place & the unloading was commenced. All the crew talking at once, they had a general cessation of work, to scramble for coppers.
