arms and massed bugles played general salute. He stayed on board then till noon making a inspection et. It was very funny standing out with the Guard under arms. On leaving he was saluted as before. At about 11.15 a Norwegian whaler (steam) came alongside with stores.
After the lecture ended (10 P.M.) most of us got up in the smoke room and as it was the last night in Australia, we had a real good "Beano" Sang "Cock Robin" & "Australia's Sons" and toasted "Australia" & "The British Empire". The fun lasted till about 3 A.M. some of them got very drunk. Being Officer of Guard this was splendid for me as I had to stay up.
