[Page 2]

As no opportunity is like to favour my design of visiting the Canaries, I have resolved to make a Short voyage to the Azores, which I flatter my self will afford something new - I have determined to return to Madeira to take a passage for the W Indies, and if you would be so good to favour me with a letter of advice if you think it would be prudent for me to make any further attempts for the Canaries or not.  If a letter is directed to Mr Murray it will be taken particular care off [of].  If in returning to Madeira I should be obliged to go by way of Lisbon, a Passage to the Canaries might be Attempted from Cadize, [Cadiz] but that I am affraid [afraid] would be assuming too much, therefore I should be glad of your oppinion [opinion].  Be pleased to give My respectful compliments to Dr Solander, Mr Lee & &c.

and I am your Gratful [grateful] obedient
Servt  Frans Masson

P.S.  I sail from here, on the 30th Inst. in a Portuguee [Portuguese] Snow bound to St. Miguel.
