My dear Dorothy,

If you, and those photos you sent, are not as alike as two peas, I don't think I would recognise you next time we meet.

Only a few months to go now, you know. Having got the push by the Turks, we all consider it time we begin to get serious.  Of course, its a state of mind that takes some working up to, especially under present circumstances.  After the day's work, some work don't forget - I just ride round the landscape for an hour or so & arrive back in time for dinner.  After four or five courses, the six Company Officers sit round the fire and smoke cigars etc, until its time to do a little more work before going to bed.  The only - I won't tell you about that, its a nasty reminder that we're not in Australia.  Puzzle what is it?  First prize:  three times as big as what it was going to be at first.  Second, third and fourth added together equal first.  There is one thing I like about this place and that is the pigs. All you have to do is look out the window and you see about a dozen of them wallowing in filth and thereby making their short lives happy.

Give all at home and others about seven kisses for me,

Your most affectionate brother,
Arthur
