Another Copy of this Planisphere was made by Fra Mauro still preserved in the Monastery of Alcobacra [Alcobaça] # in Portugal,

as appears by an Account of our Convent (St. Michael di Murano) which contains a detail of the Receipt & Expences, written in the time of Maffei Gerardi Abbot of St Michael, under whom Fra Mauro past the latter Years of His Life the Account is written in the Venetian dialect with all the Sums necessary for completeing  the Work, & all that Alfonson IV **

paid or remitted from Portugal to Fra Mauro - neither can there be any doubt but that he made many printing types, as many were found after his death, which were deposited in the Convent of St..John Baptist de Judaica at Venice.  And Peter Delphinus Abbat & General of the Câlmes, translated all the observations of Fra Mauro upon his map from the Venetian into Latin, as he writes on the 26th March, 1494 to Bernardine Gadolo; & adds, that he deposited them in the house Peter di Medicis these papers however perished perhaps in the troubles that befel the Family of Medici soon after, or at least cannot now be found.  there is much reason to lament this loss as these papers would have saved us much trouble in taking out these particulars from the Map its[elf]
