& lastly concerning the description of the parts of the terraqueous Globe, the Kingdoms, Provinces & most remarkable Islands, these therefore we omit, confining ourselves to extract only the following observations & some of his Annotations.

The Planisphere itself is five feet eight inches of Venice Measure, it is delineated in a variety of Colours & illuminated with Gold upon the finest vellum; added to which are observations of different extent, affixed to different Kingdoms & Cities, but Mauro confesses that he has omitted many observation for which his sheet did not allow space sufficient.

For example, at the lower part of Norway he writes, "In this Sea are many Islands which I have not noted for want of room".  He asserts likewise that he has not followed Ptolemy in every thing, but he takes them for his guide in most instances, particularly in the limit between Asia & Africa.  He divides his Provinces by the figures of Trees. *  He describes the Cities of Europe in a smaller Character, & those of Asia & Africa in a larger. He gives the name of Places as they were called in his own Age. The Account he gives of his own Work is in these Words.
