and if a cable Col Burns has here sent to the AMP for more leave for me gets a favourable reply I'll probably stay on several further months – I know in the end I have to go back – Perhaps it's just as well – for, after all (unless we do something very contemptible in finishing one sitting altogether) the place of ones settled life and work is the real environment to work out ones salvation in, and to finish ones career decently and in order – as I'm sure my boy would have wished us to do.
This climate is hell – of a cold type. My belly aches horribly – and the only warm place in London is the charming new Alexander Hospital where I spread my frigid self out at large.
