Mr. Jones the present weigher has held the situation since the year 1802, having succeeded Mr. Maurice Morgan, to whom he acted as Deputy for 27 years and prior to that as assistant weigher, so that he has been in the office upwards of 40 years. He now claims an assistant in consequence of the increase of duty.
By a reference to the work formerly, (taking the years when a Gold Coinage of 2 million might be going on) the Weigher & Tellers attendance would be something like the following, viz
1. Importation in the week - always on Tuesday
1. Pix attendance - always on Tuesday
1. Delivery - always Wednesday
Bars & Scissell 3 times a week - Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday
