we met the S.E. Trade. we crossed the Line on the 18th July which was that day month we saild from Portsmouth from that day we were working to windward & did not make this port till the 12th.  This famous Ship called the Walker (& I understand Constructed by a person of that name) is the worst that we went to sea upon such a Voyage.  We have Shiped Seas in the N.E. Trade so much so that we found it necessary to have the Dark lights in.  What have we to expect in high Latitudes?  As she is built on a new construction you will be curious to know her character ;  When the wind is a point abaft the Beam with smooth water she sails well;  but before the wind the old Adl. Barrington which I went to Port Jackson in (& was considered a very bad sailing Ship indeed) I am certain would
